Corrosion protection for metal components in an immersion bath. That was our customer’s order – and we delivered! The complete system, including the loading and unloading point for the transport baskets, conveyor line, dip basin, oil supply and extraction system.
The wire-mesh baskets containing the components are placed on the conveyor line using tiltable lifting systems. The line consists of roller conveyor segments equipped with their own drive. Sensors detect the position of the baskets, whereupon the corresponding segments are set in motion and transport the baskets “jam-free” along the entire route.
Drop and dip
When a basket reaches the dip basin, it is uncoupled from the transport segment, lowered into the basin with the anti-corrosion oil and raised again. A sliding device pushes the baskets over the cross section in the rectangular course before they are placed back on a conveyor element for the return journey to the removal point.
As two different types of anti-corrosion oil are used continuously (cold and warm), two identical transport lines are positioned next to each other. The tank for the warm oil is equipped with a heating element that ensures the required temperature throughout.
Extract and export
An Eckardt extraction system with three filter stages is used to remove the oil mist generated above the dip basin. After the separation of larger oil droplets in the first two filter stages, the remaining particles are electrostatically charged in stage three and carried into the collector cell along with the air flow. There they are absorbed by the high-voltage collector plates. This process ensures particularly thorough cleaning of the oil mist.
A drip tray is installed along the entire conveyor line, in which the oil dripping from the baskets is collected and from where it is pumped through filters back into the storage tanks for reuse.
A great project in which we were once again able to prove that mechanical engineering with special requirements is in good hands with Eckardt!
